Fireworks I by CowtownHero Fireworks I by CowtownHero
Last night I went to view a Global Fest fireworks competition. Portugal was performing and their display was spectacular. Exposure at F/16 and 8 seconds.T his is an HDR image created from a single RAW file split into 9 jpegs with different exposures varying from -4 to +4. This image was my first effort at an HDR image. I would advise anyone who has the opportunity to go out and photograph fireworks. With proper preparations, some patience you can get very pleasing images with effort. The actual shooting process can be very intense if you are recomposing on a tripod, but the results for are generally worth it. Ar least they were for me.

I will upload more images, HDR and normal in the coming days.

As always comments, favs, watches, criticism etc are welcome, so don't hold back.

This is my fav of the four.
Quality compositions – the inclusion of the foreground figures gives the images a sense of scale.
I love the colours in the reflections.
Nice job.

The reflection in the water is wicked!

Only criticism is the same as Huomenna. Closer crop and different border would really bring the photo out nicely =)

Thanks, like I said to Huomenna:

I'm not sure about the crop as yet. Its possible that I am going to crop it in but the aspect ratio will be thrown for a loop if I do as I don't want to lose a lot of the land. I will experiment though. This border was the hardest to choose and its certainly not my fav. I'll try and change it.

Not sure on the border but you've captured the fireworks nicely. Maybe a slightly closer crop?

The fireworks were indeed lovely, and the reflections were too. Although you could not see the people and smoke as you could in this HDR.
